Shi Min
Shi Min was born a native of Han, in Li Yang, Kiang Su province on June 7th, 1972. She was
the principal actress of the Oriental Theatrical Institute in Shanghai and was promoted to
be in the rank of superior performers of China. In 1982 she was selected to study at the
Shanghai Theatrical Academy, where she majored in ancient Chinese Peking Opera.
Shi Min began her career in January 1990 when she entered and worked at the Oriental
Theatrical Institute Company in Shanghai. Her versatility attracts audiences of many ages
and backgrounds including foreigners and the young. She is able to execute poetic, romantic
roles with expressive, sweet and clear articulation as well as arouse spontaneous responses
from her audiences in performances of literal fighting scenes. She has recently completed
her postgraduate studies at the Theatrical Opera academy and was deemed one of "the prominent
young actors and actresses of the Peking Opera".
